Augustinus Vox is a robot band (A.I. music band) that exists to bring the timeless wisdom of Augustine of Hippo and his fellow ancient voices to life through the power of music. Blending retro-inspired 1980s rock and ballad styles with the depth of ancient writers, the mission is to make philosophy, poetry, and faith sing in a way that is accessible, dramatic, and alive. Each album follows Augustine’s journey—from the Cassiciacum dialogues to his later works—while also drawing on contemporaries such as Ambrose, the legendary bishop and hymn-writer—transforming ancient texts into a modern soundscape. Through music, art, and story, Augustinus Vox bridges the gap between past and present, inviting listeners everywhere to join the restless search for truth and the ascent of the soul.

A secondary mission of the band and this site (because I am a geek who likes theology and technology) is to explore how artificial intelligence tools can help bring these treasures of the past into the present in new and exciting ways—promoting fun, learning and truth. Alongside the music, I also plan to share blog reflections, translations, audiobooks and even fiction inspired from these works, all part of the same restless heart project to bring ancient wisdom to modern day ears.

In keeping with those aims, you are welcome to perform the songs live, record covers, or remix them — just credit Augustinus Vox as the source. “The VOX rocks!” is good enough.
